The MĀORI+ app looks blank on my device

If your device is showing a blank screen in the MĀORI+ app, you are probably running an old outdated version of the app.

Update your app to the latest version from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

You may need to reset your password to sign in.

If you do not have a MĀORI+ account, the reset password mechanism will not send you a verification code. Please check that you have a MĀORI+ account by trying to sign up for a new account with your email address.

How do I get subtitles?

Subtitles are available only available on select content on MĀORI+.

At this point in time, subtitles are burnt-in on the programme so will automatically appear whilst watching a video.

Airplay cuts off when I close my phone screen

If you Airplay from your Apple device and it cuts off when your iPhone or iPad screen closes, please update your MĀORI+ app to the latest version v6.1.0 or above.

App version 6.1.0 significantly improves the Airplay experience for iOS, allowing you to close the screen whilst Airplaying and autoplays the next episode without you having to touch your mobile device.

iOS - MĀORI+ is supported on iPhones and iPads running iOS 16.4 or above. Download on the Apple App Store.

‍Android OS - MĀORI+ is supported on Android powered mobiles and tablets running Android OS 7.0 or above. Download on the Google Play Store.

Chromecast and Airplay

iOS - You can use Chromecast or Apple AirPlay MĀORI+ from your iPhone or iPad running iOS 16.4 or above.

Android OS - You can Chromecast MĀORI+ from your Android powered mobile or tablet running Android OS 7.0 or above.

Airplay Built-in Smart TV - You can use AirPlay from your iPhone or iPad running iOS 16.4 or above to stream to AirPlay-enabled smart TVs. Check the list of compatible Smart TVs.

Smart Televisions and Connected Devices

Android TV - You can download MĀORI+ on smart televisions powered by Android TV and Android TV devices running Android TV OS 10 or above. Search for MĀORI+ in the Google Play Store on your Android TV device and install.

MĀORI+ is supported on Meta Quest 3 and 3s. Download on the Meta Quest Store.

Please note: Due to content rights, some content may not be available outside Aotearoa.

The MĀORI+ Apple TV app is no longer supported, please use Airplay or use one of the many alternative ways to watch MĀORI+.

Why am I blocked whilst using a VPN?

A VPN may hide or change your location, so some MĀORI+ content may be blocked to meet regional rights and licensing requirements.

‍Turn off the VPN and try again using your normal internet connection.

Can I watch MĀORI+ outside New Zealand?

MĀORI+ may be accessed outside New Zealand, but programme availability varies by country.

‍‍‍Some content cannot be streamed overseas because of regional rights and licensing restrictions.

What do the classifications (such as G, PG or M) mean?

Some programmes on MĀORI+ have a classification to help you understand the nature of the content and whether it is suitable for you and your family.

We use the following classifications:
[G] - Approved for General viewing (Arowhānui: Kua whakaaetia mō te mātakitaki a te katoa)
[PG] - Parental Guidance is recommended for young viewers ( Tohutohu ā-Matua: E tūtohua te Tohutohu ā-Matua mō ngā kaimātakitaki tamariki ake)
[M] - Suitable for mature audiences 16 years and over. (Ngā Kaimātakitaki Pakeke: E tika ana mā ngā kaimātakitaki pakeke 16 tau, pakeke atu)
[16] - Suitable for 16 years and over. (Kaua e mātakina e te hunga i raro i te 16 tau)
[18] - Suitable for 18 years and over (Kaua e mātakina e te hunga i raro i te 18 tau)

If programmes are more likely to offend, we may provide additional warnings using the following classifications:
[C] - Content may offend (Ka mōrihariha pea ngā ihirangi)
[L] - Language may offend (Ka mōrihariha pea te reo)
[V] - Violence may offend (He whakarekereke kei roto)
[S] - Sexual material may offend (Ka mōrihariha pea ngā ihirangi hōkaka)
